How to Set Up a New Gmail Account

1. Open your web browser and navigate to the Gmail website (www.gmail.com).
2. Click on the “Create account” button located at the top right corner of the page.
3. You will be prompted to enter your first and last name. Type in your desired name and click “Next.”
4. Next, you will need to provide a phone number. This is optional but recommended, as it helps Gmail verify your account and can be used to recover your password if needed. Enter your phone number and click “Next.”
5. You will now be asked to enter a recovery email address. This is also optional but recommended for the same reasons as the phone number. Enter your preferred email address and click “Next.”
6. Choose a username for your Gmail account. This will be the prefix of your email address, followed by “@gmail.com.” Make sure to choose a username that is easy to remember and unique. If your desired username is already taken, Gmail will suggest alternative options. Once you have selected a username, click “Next.”
7. Create a strong password for your account. A strong password should be at least 8 characters long and include a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters. Enter your password and click “Next.”
8. Gmail will ask you to confirm your password. Re-enter your password and click “Next.”
9. You will now be prompted to agree to Gmail’s terms of service and privacy policy. Read through the terms carefully and, if you agree, click “I agree.”
10. Finally, you will be asked to verify your account. You can do this by entering a verification code sent to your phone number or recovery email address. Once you have entered the verification code, click “Next.”
