Efficient Steps to Remove a WiFi Network from Your Mac- A Comprehensive Guide

How to Delete WiFi Network on Mac

Managing your WiFi networks on a Mac can sometimes be a bit overwhelming, especially if you have a list of networks that you no longer need or want to connect to. Deleting a WiFi network on your Mac is a straightforward process that can help you keep your network preferences organized and secure. In this article, we will guide you through the steps on how to delete a WiFi network on your Mac.

Before we dive into the steps, it’s important to note that deleting a WiFi network will not affect your internet connection or your ability to connect to other networks. It simply removes the network from your list of available WiFi networks on your Mac.

Here’s how to delete a WiFi network on your Mac:

  1. Click on the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen and select “System Preferences”.
  2. In the System Preferences window, click on the “Network” icon.
  3. Select your WiFi connection from the list of options on the left side of the window.
  4. With your WiFi connection selected, click on the “Advanced” button at the bottom of the window.
  5. In the WiFi tab, you will see a list of networks you have connected to in the past. Scroll through the list and find the network you want to delete.
  6. Select the network and click the “minus” (-) button below the list to remove it.
  7. After removing the network, click “OK” to close the Advanced Network window.
  8. Click “Apply” in the Network window to save your changes.

That’s it! The selected WiFi network has now been deleted from your list of available networks on your Mac. If you ever need to reconnect to that network, you can simply add it back using the same steps.

It’s worth mentioning that if you have saved a password for the network you are deleting, it will not be removed from your Keychain. This means that if you try to connect to that network in the future, you will still be prompted to enter the password.

By following these simple steps, you can easily manage your WiFi networks on your Mac and keep your system running smoothly and securely.
