Step 1: Prepare Your Data

Before you start, ensure that your data is well-organized. Your Excel spreadsheet should have two columns: one for the location names and another for the corresponding latitude and longitude coordinates. You can obtain these coordinates from various sources, such as a GPS device or an online mapping service.

Step 2: Create a Map in Google Maps

1. Open Google Maps in your web browser.
2. Click on the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top-left corner.
3. Select “Your Places” from the dropdown menu.
4. Click on the “Maps” tab and then click on the “Create Map” button.

Step 3: Import Your Excel Data

1. In the “Create a Map” window, click on the “Add” button next to the “Data” section.
2. Select “Import data” from the dropdown menu.
3. Choose “Google Sheets” as the data source and click on “Continue.”
4. Sign in to your Google account if prompted.
5. Click on “Create a new spreadsheet” and give it a name.
6. In the new spreadsheet, paste your location data in the appropriate columns.

4. Enter the following formula in the “Expression” field: `=GET_PLACEMARKS(data!A2:A, data!B2:B)`
– Replace `data!A2:A` with the column containing location names.
– Replace `data!B2:B` with the column containing latitude and longitude coordinates.
5. Click on “Add” to plot your locations on the map.

Step 5: Customize Your Map

1. Click on the “Customize” button to adjust the appearance of your map.
2. You can change the map type, add markers, and adjust the zoom level.
3. To add labels to your markers, click on the “Label” option in the “Customize” menu and select “Show labels.”

Step 6: Save and Share Your Map

1. Once you are satisfied with your map, click on the “Save” button.
2. Give your map a name and click on “Save.”
3. To share your map, click on the “Share” button and enter the email addresses of the people you want to share it with.
